Instrument Upgrade
Extend the life of working hardware instead of replacing it.
Extend hardware you already own
A chromatography system that no longer meets a method's requirements is not automatically a system that needs replacing. In many cases a targeted upgrade — a detector, a pump module, a control system or a software migration — restores the capability at a fraction of the cost of new capital equipment.
Common upgrade paths
- Detector upgrades, including VWD to DAD and lamp technology changes
- Pump and solvent-manager module replacement
- Autosampler capacity and injection-cycle improvements
- HPLC to UHPLC conversion where the platform supports it
- Chromatography data system migration and instrument control reconfiguration
- Column oven and thermostatting additions
Requalification is part of the job. An upgrade changes the instrument's qualified state. We plan the OQ or PQ that follows the hardware change into the same engagement, so the system returns to production with its documentation already current.
Deciding whether to upgrade
We start with the method and the instrument's service history rather than the catalogue. If the economics favour replacement over upgrade we will say so — an upgrade that leaves you with an ageing platform and a fresh qualification bill is not a saving.
